Who can Apply for the Absa Bank Gold Credit Card?

The first criteria for accessing the Absa Bank Gold Credit Card is that the individual needs to be at least 18 years old, a basic requirement for most banks in South Africa. This is because minors can use credit cards as dependents, but they cannot apply for an account or card in their own names.

In terms of income, the client applying for the Gold Card must have a minimum monthly income of R4,000 and also have the option to provide proof of fixed income through the documents requested by the bank.

To access the complete Gold package, including credit and debit cards along with a bank account, the client must not be insolvent in relation to any debt. Additionally, permission for a credit check through a specialized agency is required by the bank.

The application process for the Absa Bank Gold Credit Card consists of 5 steps: access to the online form, connection verification, a 6-step evaluation, evaluation completion, and application submission.

Firstly, the form offers 3 options: client without an account, client with an account at Absa Bank, and client with an account at Absa Bank who uses the brand’s Internet Banking.

On the other hand, users who do not have an account with Absa Bank need to fill out the complete form and ensure they are not in a debt collection process.

The application process for non-customers requests the following information:

  • First and last name
  • Type of identification: ID or passport
  • Identification number
  • Address
  • Gender
  • Date of birth
  • Country of birth and residence
