To qualify, applicants must be at least 18 years old and either a South African citizen or a foreigner with valid passport and residency visa documentation.

The primary financial requirement for the card is a minimum monthly income of R5,000, which must be substantiated with supporting documents.

These include a copy of the ID document, a copy of the passport and visa, a recent payslip, bank statements for the last 3 months, and proof of residence issued within the last 3 months.

It’s important to note that all applications undergo credit checks and comply with the Financial Intelligence Center Act (FICA).

How do I Apply for the Standard Bank Blue Credit Card?

Standard Bank provides various avenues for customers to apply for their services, depending on whether they hold an account with the bank or not.

For existing Standard Bank account holders, you can utilize the online internet banking platform.

Upon logging in, navigate to the top menu and select the “borrow” option. Fill out the required information to check your eligibility for the Blue Card.

Using the Standard Bank mobile app requires logging in, tapping the More icon at the bottom, and opening a new account. Navigate to the “Personal Loan” section and then proceed to “Apply” for a credit card to explore available options.

For non-customers of Standard Bank, the application process is slightly different. You’ll need to complete a call-back request form. Provide your full name, South African ID number, phone number, gross monthly income, and breakdown of expenses.

Once you submit the form, as indicated by its name, the bank will contact you to proceed with the application process.

Bank customers can also apply for the card and credit by dialing *120*2345# and selecting option 3. The process is straightforward via phone call as well.
