How do the Barclaycard AAdvantage Mastercard works?

For qualified purchases made on American Airlines, the Barclays AAdvantage Aviator Red World Elite Mastercard awards 2 miles for every $1 spent and 1 mile for every $1 spent on all other transactions. One dime is worth one mile.

If you take part in Flight Cents, your purchases will round up to the next dollar and you can use the extra cents to buy AAdvantage miles at a rate of 1 AAdvantage mile for every 2 cents. Typically, this is not a good value.

After making your first purchase within the first 90 days, the Barclays AAdvantage® Aviator® Red World Elite Mastercard®* will provide you with 50,000 miles as a welcome bonus.

How do you redeem these points?

When it’s time to use your AAdvantage miles, visit American Airlines, log into your account, and do a flight search with the “Redeem Miles” checkbox checked. Knowing how many miles a specific flight might cost is simple because American Airlines publishes its reward chart.

A MileSAAver economy class ticket can be purchased for 25,000 miles roundtrip plus taxes and fees for travel within the contiguous 48 U.S. states and Canada. Add Mexico for just 5,000 more roundtrip miles.

A round-trip MileSAAver economy class ticket to Europe from the United States can be purchased with the welcome bonus (plus taxes and fees).

Given that only one purchase is necessary, together with the annual charge, earning a trip to Europe can be rather simple.

A one-way MileSAAver business class ticket to Europe costs 57,500 plus taxes and fees for those who want to travel in elegance.

American Airlines’ web specials, which are discounted economy class prices between select city pairs on particular days, are one particularly nice place for redemptions.

American routinely offers web discounts with domestic one-way distances as low as 5,000 miles.

AAdvantage miles can be used for far more by using web specials than by redeeming them during busy times or even for typical saver awards.

Be careful, though, that these special routings frequently involve lengthy detours or layovers.

Since adding the ability to book awards on all of its Oneworld alliance partners and several of its non-alliance partners on its website.

American Airlines has made it simpler to redeem AAdvantage miles for trips on its partners.

British Airways, Cathay Pacific, Japan Airlines, Qantas, Qatar, and other airlines are among America’s partners.

How much money can you save with this card?

The average wage-earning household in the 70th percentile has an annual income of $107,908 and may charge $32,072 in costs to credit cards. The rewards from this credit card are predicted using these numbers.

With the Barclays AAdvantage® Aviator® Red World Elite Mastercard®, eligible purchases made on American Airlines earn two miles for every dollar spent, while all other transactions earn just one mile.

Assuming that every flight is booked through American Airlines, our sample household spends $3,040 on travel annually and accrues 6,080 miles.

The remaining $29,032 in annual spending for this family that can be charged to credit cards would result in 29,032 miles being earned, for a total of 35,112 miles being earned annually in addition to the welcome bonus for the first year.

This gives it a total of $351.11 in cashback.
